Money-Market Portals Study

The growing influence of money-market portals on the fund industry and the investor community is explored in a continuing series that presents its third edition this spring, the iMoneyNet 2010 Money-Market Portals Study. It will provide detailed information such as recent enhancements, fund offerings, operations, reporting, compliance, and other features for each portal studied. Portal participants are asked to reflect on the impact of the ongoing financial crisis on their businesses. Additional sections offer results of separate surveys completed by corporate cash managers and money-market fund managers.

Government Investment Pools: Investment Strategies, Facts, Figures and Trends

The most recent update of this series of iMoneyNet Special Reports tracked the $250 billion-plus universe of more than 110 pools serving the short-term investment needs of state and local agencies and other public entities in 45 of the 50 states. This comprehensive report provided an unmatched overview of how pools responded to the credit crunch that began in the summer of 2007, a list of the largest pools ranked by total assets, average total effective fees by pool category, and highly-detailed information about the organization, investment objectives and strategies, expense ratios, performance and contact information for each pool studied.

Banks/Brokerage Sweep Report

The focus of this in-depth report is on options presented to investors and comparative returns offered by some of the nation’s largest brokerage programs on cash awaiting investment. The so-called “sweep” choices often involve money-market mutual funds and federally-insured bank products. This study details aspects of each brokerage’s investment accounts, such as minimum balances to start and fee structures, and sizes up the different options available for investment of idle cash in associated money-market funds, their recent yields and asset trends versus payouts for money-market deposit accounts and checking or savings accounts held at affiliated banks.
